Round Posterior Stent (RPS)

From patients undergoing Radical Prostatectomy for localised prostate cancer, up to 18-20% will develop urethro-vesical anastomotic stenoses. Similar stenoses may develop after radical cysto-prostatectomy for bladder cancer. Bladder-neck stenosis may develop after TURP or thermotherapy for BPH; posterior urethral stricture may develop after prostate brachytherapy. There are no adequate and satisfactory solutions for these strictures which are typically managed by repeat palliative dilation. Reconstructive surgery of these strictures is extremely difficult.

The Allium Round Posterior Urethral Stent is a temporary device comprised of a super-elastic structure fully covered with a co-polymer, inserted into the posterior urethra of these patients to open the occluded passage. During its indwelling period the stent acts as a mould and allows building of a large passage
